the Lewes Folk Rock Festival is held annually in Lewes, the historic county town of East Sussex, UK
History of the Festival
So why a Folk-Rock festival in Lewes?

The Sussex area has long been a breeding ground for top folk-rock acts but this has never been acknowledged with a festival before (with the exception of Glastonwick). In the late eighties a highly influential Brighton-based folk-rock band called 'McDermott's Two Hours' were playing around Sussex and were at the forefront of a wave of bands all based loosely in this genre. This included bands such as The Aardvarks, Altogether Elsewhere, Tricks upon Travellers, Runestone and of course The Levellers. At the time Brighton had a great number of live venues including The Old Vic, The Venue, The Concorde, The Beachcomber, The Basement and The Richmond, all now defunct. In this way it seems natural to host a festival of this nature in Sussex, promoting live music.

The event is very much being run by music enthusiasts for music enthusiasts so the ticket prices will be kept low as this is a break-even venture.
